    This list is insulting to Fischer & Karpov. Today’s ratings are inflated. Peak Fischer, Karpov & Kasparov would likely defeat most of the players on this list in any reasonably long match. How much of our knowledge do we owe to those who came before? How much do we owe to computer analysis? Ratings are like house values, they go up all the time. Ask this same question in 10 years and over half of the players name will change and the champion will be the first to eclipse 2900. Check out https://youtu.be/z2DHpW79w0Y for a different view.
